Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have jointly achieved something that has never been done before. The trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, released on March 17, crossed one billion views in just four days — the first movie trailer in history to reach this milestone. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker continues to break records in ways that were once considered impossible.
Brand New Day is the fourth MCU Spider-Man film and forms part of Phase Six. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film depicts a Peter Parker who has lived in complete anonymity for four years following the events of No Way Home. The trailer shows him still protecting New York while seeking guidance from Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, who may be the only person willing to help.
WaveMetrix tracking data confirmed the trailer had crossed 1.1 billion total views by Tuesday. In the all-important first 24 hours, it amassed 718.6 million views, easily surpassing Deadpool & Wolverine’s 365 million Super Bowl record and No Way Home’s record of 355.5 million views. GTA VI’s entertainment benchmark of 475 million was also beaten with considerable margin.
The achievement reinforces Spider-Man’s unique position at the intersection of superhero blockbuster and mainstream cultural phenomenon. No other current franchise generates quite this level of global, cross-demographic emotional investment. The trailer’s themes of loss, isolation, and invisible courage have clearly resonated not just with longtime fans but with new audiences drawn in by the depth of the story being told.
Tom Holland leads a cast that includes Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. The film opens in theatres on July 31 and will be available in India in six languages across all premium formats. The question is no longer whether Brand New Day will be a hit — it is just how historic that hit will be.
