Boycott Over: Thousands of Fans to Return for Oxford Match

Thousands of Sheffield Wednesday fans are expected to return to Hillsborough for Saturday’s game against Oxford, ending their boycott after owner Dejphon Chansiri placed the club in administration. Fans had stayed away from the midweek game in protest.

The administration, while celebrated by fans “overjoyed” to see Chansiri gone, triggered a 12-point EFL deduction. This leaves the club on -6 points, 15 points adrift of safety, and facing almost certain relegation.

The Supporters Trust, which had backed the protests, is now calling on fans to “re-engage.” “The club’s most urgent need is stability and income,” the trust said. “Every ticket bought… helps the club rebuild from the ground up.”

The club is now in the hands of administrator Begbies Traynor, who is seeking a “swift sale” of the club and stadium. Manager Henrik Pedersen called the day “sad” but “good,” as it allows for a “fresh restart.”

Despite the massive points deficit, Pedersen remains defiant. “I have a big belief we can survive in the Championship with this group of players,” he stated.
