Su-57, “Operation Sindoor” Cited in Russia’s New Defense Pitch

Russia has made a major new defense pitch to India, offering co-production of its Su-57 fighter jet and citing the historical success of “Operation Sindoor” as proof of its hardware’s effectiveness.

Ambassador Denis Alipov called the operation a “testament” to the 70% of India’s military equipment that is of Russian origin. He emphasized that this 60-year partnership is “rooted in battlefield experience.”

Building on this “unique” and proven legacy, Alipov announced the new offer, which includes the Su-57, drones, and advanced radar systems. This expands on current joint ventures like BrahMos and T-90 tanks.

The announcement is strategically timed. It follows Donald Trump’s claim that India would halt Russian oil imports, a statement the US has backed with tariffs.

By invoking past operational success while offering future technology, Russia is making a compelling case for its reliability as India’s primary security partner.
