Japan’s stock market began the week on a positive note, with the Nikkei 225 index climbing 2.5% by midday on Monday. This surge was accompanied by a 1.2% rise in the broader Topix index, reflecting a strong performance across the board.
Contributing to the Nikkei’s gains, electronics manufacturer TDK saw its shares soar by 8%, marking it as one of the top performers. Meanwhile, Seiko Holdings, known for its watches, experienced a significant increase of 6.8% in its stock value.
In contrast, other parts of Asia experienced varied market movements. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index dipped by 0.3%, indicating a slight downturn. Meanwhile, stock exchanges in mainland China and South Korea remained closed due to public holidays, pausing any trading activity in these regions.
