During a recent commemoration of Vietnam’s 81st National Day, Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu articulated Japan’s aspiration to work alongside Vietnam to secure a future marked by enhanced strength and prosperity for both nations. His remarks underscore the increasing importance of Vietnam-Japan relations as a pillar for regional growth.
Echoing this sentiment, Japanese Finance Minister Katayama Satsuki emphasized the new phase of bilateral relations, highlighting potential cooperation in finance, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and energy. She noted that these areas of collaboration could drive economic growth and contribute to the broader stability of the region.
From Vietnam’s perspective, Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu described the current state of relations as the strongest to date, citing significant advancements in science, technology, and innovation. He pointed to the collaboration in green and digital transformation, energy, semiconductors, and AI, as well as the development of skilled human resources, as key areas of mutual benefit.
Both nations have acknowledged their complementary economic strengths and growing trust, which are vital as they seek to further solidify the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. An emphasis is also being placed on enhancing parliamentary exchanges and cooperation to support these efforts.
